Hay from 2022?

Hi all,

Today I purchased a half hay bale (22lb) from a local farm in my area. It was on extra discount and I now realize that's because it's a first cut from 2022. Anybody know if this will be OK with my piggies? I know hay doesn't easily go bad, but will it be stale? I would rather message them and change my order if my piggies aren't likely to eat it. The last thing I need is 22lb of unusable hay lol

Assuming that the hay is stored well, it will loose a lot of it's nutritional value in a few months but still remain edible for around 3 years.

As long as it isn’t damp and doesn’t smell musty, hay lasts for years so it will be fine
