Hay Box

Would this be any good for a hay box for the pigs? I saw it in homebargains and impulse bought it for them but wondering if it could be harmless if chewed? It doesn't appear to be treated with anything nasty.

I'm not an expert on the wood question. Do you have any idea what wood it is?

this will sound weird but taste the wood, if it has a bitter taste that makes you want to wipe your tongue off its not good. try comparing the taste to some untreated wood.

It's really lightweight wood it's not heavy, doesn't smell of anything. Il let you know what it tastes like lol

Just ob be careful. It looks like it has been painted/whitewashed? I wouldn't use any wood that isn't dried kiln pine. That looks like maybe pine but painted. Also whats holding it together... If its glue and they chew those bits could poison them.

It looks like it's been treated somehow? It's a cute box though, you might have to use it for yourself instead lol

I wouldn't use it as it looks like it has been treated to make it look nice.
