Hay Box Or Litter Box?

Hello everyone!
I use a little tray/box thing for the hay in my cage (so that it doesn't go everywhere), but I find that the pigs don't eat it, they just sleep and poo in it and I find that I'm throwing away lots of hay because of this. Does anyone have a solution for this? Should I just use less hay in the tray?

You could put bedding in the tray instead and use hay bags instead? So the tray catches the hay and the piggies don't go everywhere on the ground while eating. You could use hay racks but a lot of people prefer not to because of the stories of pigs getting stuck in them.

I use a lesser quality hay as a liner in the trays. They sleep and poop on that. I then have better quality hay which I give them to eat.

I will try the hay bags. I used to have a hay rack but the gaps between the bars were too small and they couldn't get at it! Thank you x
