I currently use a Hay rack and recently just purchased two hay balls but after reading several horror stories about the two, I've decided to make a hay bag and ditch the rest as I thought it may be safer and since my Guinea pigs are getting an entire new cage next week I thought it would be fitting.
I was just wondering how big the holes on the hay bag should be?
I didn't want to make the holes too small and allow the potential for one of them to get stuck but I also didn't want the holes to be too big that they go inside constantly.

Hmm, we made a couple of hay bags, and basically no matter what the size of the holes they will climb in - sorry.
Not all piggies do, but I have seen all 4 of mine in the hay bags at some point, and Oreo actually quite likes to sleep in one on occasion

So we ended up deciding that it was best to make them with 2 decently large holes so they could comfortably get in and out, and I didn't have to worry about them getting stuck.

We found that with light weight cotton, holes 8 - 10 cm work well.

I think one of mine will definitely try and venture in, the other not so much - I hope, he's the chunkier of the two :D
Thank you, I will make them that size, I'd hate for any accidents to happen if they were smaller
