hiya .
i’m rescuing 2 male piggies this week and i'm super excited. i’ve previously had many pigs that have been outside there whole life (my eldest living to 8years) .
I would really like these boys to go outside but they’ve been inside pigs for a year , do i have to transition them or can i just put them out ?

my plan is to have them in a bricked garage while it’s so cold with 4 snuggle safes , an insulated hutch and a heat mat with lots of hay and beds etc. i’m just worried they’ll go into shock and die as it’s so cold 😩 Having them inside isn’t an option as i want them to have as much space as possible !
any advice would be muchly appreciated xx

I would perhaps wait until spring before putting them out, as they're currently indoors. A garage is better than completely outside but the weather us really cold at the minute.

Yeah i agree but in the garage is warm and insulated aswell as having heating , assuming that will be alright ? x

Welcome to the forum

You will not be able to put them completely outside given they are indoor piggies.

If the garage is warm and closer to indoor temperatures then the garage is fine.

You can start to transition them outside from April/May when temperatures are warmer by putting them out in the day and bringing them back in at night for a while. They can then stay outside during summer at night once nights are 15 degrees or more. Then ideally brought back into the garage around October until April again.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have two boars too called Pebble and Patrick.

Can’t wait to see them when they arrive. 😍
