I have 3 boars (brothers) who are coming up to 8 months old. Up to now we have had the odd rumblings at each other but nothing more serious. One has always been more dominant (Elf) and he seems to stick with one brother (Daisy) whilst the other stays alone most of the time (Goofy). Today the dominant one has been chasing and strutting and chattering at the lonely one and keeps on pestering him. I also found some hair that has been bitten off/pulled out on the cage floor.
I am a bit worried and have blocked off the top layer of their C&C cage across the top of their ramp with an extra cage square so they can still see each other and placed Goofy in there on his own.
Not sure if I have acted too soon or not. I know we have been lucky to have 3 boars together this long. The breeder told me it would be fine and I did not find this forum until too late. I don't want poor Goofy to feel isolated.
I am guessing that after them being separate tonight it will be irreversible?
Advise please......

Hi I'm not going to be much help because I have the same situation. I took the most rumbly one out and he has been neutered but he is now alone so I'm wondering if I should get him a friend. Hope someone comes along with advice for you it's not a nice situation to be in. x

Neutering doesn't change behaviour, just stops them from reproducing. Mounting is a display of dominance, so a neutered male will still mount other males, which can ultimately lead to arguments if it continues for too long or too frequently.

Usually if you have split them up they will not easily go back together, if they have been split for a short period of time you could try washing them all and reintroducing them on neutral ground and see how it goes. But I would say if you've got the space then you should try and find a friend, as even if you do manage to get them back together, they may still continue fighting...odd numbers of boars never really get on very well in the teenager phase.

Thank you Lizzie for the good advice. Girlfriend shopping shall commence! xx
