Has my piggie been bitten? And if so, what should I do?

I posted recently about my two babies nibbling us when picked them up. Thanks to all that help but now something else has happened.

We came down this morning so they could get there 10 hours of excerise ( :D) and noticed lil Latte had something on her ear. It looks like two bite marks to me and my missus but we arent sure. The picture isnt great (I'm no david bailey) but I wanted to check with the experts (thats you lot ;) ).

Ive circled where the damage is (again apologies for the crap pic) and it looks like the blood has dried now. Should we treat it at all and is it a bite? Any help advice would be helpful as we have never experienced this and really dont want to seperate our awesome foursome :)

If it doesnt look infected and looks okay now, i dont think you need to do anything...(cant really tell from the pic)

I wouldnt say you should seperate them at this time as you dont really know what happened/who is to blame...

Sows do have a bit of a nip at eachother sometimes..and as long as its nothing serous should just settle down and get back to normal...

Keep a very close eye on them and listen out in case there is a 'situation' ::) ;D

If you do have any doubts something else could be wrong, i think its always worth going to the vet to check it out!

cheers for that. I wish I could get a beter picture but I'm not use to my digital camera and the zoom is too powerful lol

It just looks scabbed over at the moment but I will watch it, bless her :'(

If it does look a little dodgy should it be straight to the vets or should I swab it with something?

No need to rush to the vets. These minor wounds in guinea pig flesh normally heall quickly.Would not hurt to bathe the wound with either warm salt water or diluted Hibiscrub.,dry the area, then leave open to the air.No need at this stage to use any ointment.

Unless you think it could be something else or turning into a nasty infection, should be fine, you could swap it with some salt water but from the pic it looks like it will heal fine!

But I would say if its for your own piece of mind its sometimes worth the £10 for the vet to check the piggy over (thats just my opinion with my piggies) ;D

I'd say it should be fine, just watch it closely. If she seems to change or be acting strangely, or it looks infected/sore then a vet visit would be the best thing, but at the moment it looks okay. Not sure what it is, but aslong as it isn't bothering her she should be fine.

she seems fine and is just as scatty as usual in the run.... 98) :smitten:

my future father in law suggested some animal anticeptic just to be safe....

Molly had something like this a while back, turned out to be she had mites and a bit of a sharp claw and had broken the skin while scratching her little ear

it actually pierced her ear :'( Thats why we assume it can only be a bite.....

She still seems fine and squeeking whenever she can (such a drama queen)...

I will monitor it and post a new pic at the weekend to show how its doing. It looks no different to a human scab now really. No "green bits" as far as I can make out so its not infected
