Hey guys,

I forgot to order my fitch bedding for the guinea pigs and they don't seem to be answering the office phone for me to make an order as it is out of stock online.

Anyho i thought i had read somewhere that bedmax shavings are okay for guinea pigs but I just opened the bale that i bought and it seem kinda stiff and not very soft... here's a little pic of it:

Do you think it will be okay if i put hay on top for this week?

I'll get them more Fitch as soon as i can get some ordered.

Thanks in Advance :)

I am sure that with plenty of hay on top bedmax will be fine until you can get your usual bedding. They are big flakes, so like you say , not very soft, so would not usually be suitable for piggies.

Bed max are actually the only shavings recommended for rat use (don't flame me I'm being serious here) they are a high quality low dust shaving and I have used them for pigs just fine :)

Thanks Bekki that makes a little less nervous about using them, I'll put a layer of hay on top just in case though... :)

I feel like such an idiot, i managed to get another full clean out with the bit of Fitch i had left and ordered some more on the phone today... Now i have this huge bale of bedmax shavings in my room and I'm not sure whether to use them with hay on top or find somebody else who might need them.

I am an idiot!

you could donate it to a rescue or sell it on

Yeah i might have a look for some rescues near me, also i know the school my little niece goes to keep chickens so they might be glad of them... my mum thinks i should keep them and use them with hay on top but I'm not so sure! :)
