Has Anyone Got An Eglu Go Guinea Pig Hutch

A prospective adopter for a pair of guinea pigs is asking about the Eglu Go Guinea Pig Hutch. Has anybody got one or know anyone who has.

Can you give me any feedback. I'm a bit worried about heat inside it in the summer but would appreciate any feedback x

i haven't experience myself but have heard and read alot of negative comments to be honest. too hot in the summer because of the plastic, too small living space and a few reports that they are not fox proof either

Yeah I know people who have lost animals to foxes still in eglus. Also if they are in that all year, then all they have is a box that isn't even 2x2 ft internally to shelter in. And although I haven't uses a pig or rabbit one personally, I have used the chicken one and it was a pig to clean.

I worked out recently for what I'd pay for one of those I could get a 6ft long run, a 5x2 ft hutch and join the two together along with a 6x2 c&c cage. Almost all if which provide more or nearly as much space as the eglu.

Sorry but I think they are a complete waste of money.

I've had the Eglu Go for chickens which was great, however, I wouldn't have one for piggies. It's not the temperature issue though as they are double skinned, so shouldn't get too hot/cold, I just think they are unsuitable for rabbits/guinea pigs. For the price of them you could get a really lovely hutch and run for the garden in summer. I've had the eglu go, classic and cube and found them great for my chickens so I'm not against omlet products and recommend them to potential chicken keepers.

Some more ponderings:

1) If the piggies are outside in winter and don't go out into the run as it's too cold they are stuck inside with no view out and you can't see in without disturbing them
2) The run size I feel is too small
3) They are very close to the ground and with the door to the run open susceptible to draughts - I prefer outdoor pigs to be housed further off the ground
4) They could be OK used as a summer hidey when used with the larger 2m run (GP run is 1m I think) but it's an awful lot to pay for a summer hidey!
