hi,

Awhile ago I had to separate my two guineas as they were fighting and blood had been drawn resulting in one having a very obvious bite mark on his face. However, I have noticed recently that they don't seem as aggressive as they were ... in the past they were agressive through the bars, after being separated. Is there any chance I would be able to put them together in the same cage again? Is it worthwhile trying? I would have to throughly clean the cage and give them both a bath etc I guess ....

The first guinea pig's I owned was a trio of boars bought form a local pet shop. We only went into buy two but the shop owner convinced us that 3 would get along fine mallethead

We had to seperate one of the boars eventually and get him a friend of his own. One of his former cagemates (Dylan) was particually aggressive and would try and attack him through the bars of the run. About 3 1/2 - 4 years later Dylan's friend died and I was able to put the two back together in the garden. I never put them back in the same hutch as Rufus still had his friend. So maybe if your boys have got lonley they might appreciate having there friend again even if they used to fall out? Goodluck what ever you decide with them

I would keep it to common run time at first for several times and only then take it from there.

Most often, boars that have been separated prefer to keep their own separate sleeping quarters/territory, but will quite happily live side by side and share some common ground/neutral territory like a run.

I am at the moment trying to get my 2 remaining boars talking to one another, they are fine talking though the bars and they act like they want to be in with each other, yet when you get them out for some floor time, they are teeth chattering and trying to nip one another. Its a long process and sadly we dont think they will be friends, but I really want them to be so then I can have 1 cage and not 2 when I move out!
