Morning :)

Another C&C grid question... Has anyone used the Wickes mesh panels alongside the CostCo/eBay mesh and grid panels? Are they the same size and colour (the grey ones)?

Thanks! :)p

i have been a member of Costco for a few years and did not know they did grids for guinea pigs cages gonna have to investigate next time I'm there :(|)

You are missing out! I have to get mine from eBay, they cost so much more :( I think the units are about £10-£11 from CostCo, they are at least £15 plus courier P&P because of the weight on eBay :( The boxes look like this, keep an eye out!

Not only me the boys are missing out also eek I will indeedy keep ma peepers open for these next time I am there. Roughly how many do you need to make a decent sized cage for them?

I'm going to need 6 units to make a 4 storey, 5x2 eeeek! Expensive, but still not as expensive as a store bought cage! It would depend on how big/how many levels you were thinking? And also if it is on the floor (so you wont need to make a floor out of the grids). Each packet of these has 10 grid panels and 6 mesh panels in it. I'm going to us the mesh on the back wall of the cage to stop spillages out, but the mesh would also be good for the floor if you are going multi level. I used the mesh for a ramp in my store bought cages too.

As an example, a 2x5 (bigger than any indoor storebought cage available) with a 1x2 hay loft would need 2 units if you were going to put it on the floor. You'd have 12 panels around the perimeter, 2 for the floor of the hayloft, 5 for the perimeter of the hayloft (leaving a panel gap for the ramp) and then either use panels for the ramp or wood etc.

And then you would need correx or lino etc for the trays to stop damage to your carpet :)

Wow Kim you're a star at working stuff out - it's early Sunday morning too - bravo you!

I expect they would fit together.

How many grids do you have already?

LOL I'm sitting on Excel totting up the panels! Haha! So sad.... I think it's a compromise though Lisa, I explained the design to BF, he seemed ok with it, but said I should build it straight upstairs, rather than in the lounge :( But on the plus side, they'll have a piggy proof room that I can let them run about in their respective groups, so perhaps it is the best thing?

So... I have... 6 mesh panels and 18 grid panels left from my 2 units from ages ago. The other 2 grids are to complete the floor of my lofts in the Trixie 150's then I have 4 mesh ones for the ramps in the 150's and I broke the other mesh ones when I was trying to make the ramps rolleyes So I have one complete unit, plus spare grids.

I am thinking, mesh back wall and mesh back half of the floors, and then grid sides, front wall/doors and front half of the floors. I was a bit worried that if i pull the tray out with the piggy still in and they jump towards the back of the cage, they will hurt themselves in the grid floor, so the back half being mesh will ease my mind a little :) What so you think?

Although, having said that mojules, you could not have the loft on this example, just the 2x5 (or even 2x6!) on the floor and only need 1 unit. So for £10-£11 ish from CostCo, plus maybe £10-£20 for the correx, you'll have a cage bigger than your piggies will know what to do with!

I am so excited to see what you are going to build KimberleysWheekers. It sounds like a colour coordinated pig palace. Please do take some pictures of the construction as you go along.

cant wait to see what your building kimberleyswheekers :))

mojules i used 1 pack for my baby pigs 2x3 cage although i do have another pack for when i have time to add a level
