IMG_20170520_032744.webp IMG_20170520_032845.webp One of my pigs escaped a temporary cage I had set up for him and I was wondering whether people who have or had this cage (see photo) could give me possibilities of how piggies could escape. I have checked the cage over the best I can but I wasn't able to find anything.

It is a good job I was awake and sat at my desk otherwise I wouldn't of known there was an escaped guinea pig causing tons of trouble in my room. I turned around and saw him dash in between the two cages.

Trying to catch a pig at three thirty in the morning is good fun while trying to not wake up anybody in the house. I would of been completely screwed if he had of ran under the gap underneath my bed and refused to come out! Haha

I have sat and watched him and the way I suspect he had escaped was squeezing his body through the bars where the water bottle is since he managed to stick his head through what looked like a rather tight gap as he nearly got stuck and choked himself.

I wouldn't like go know what could of happened if I wasn't home! This cage is going to be ditched because it is nothing but a death trap. youdoodle-2017-05-20T04-14-55Z.webp

Wowsers. How old is your piggy? And Where did you get the cage from? It may be worth taking it back for a refund and asking them to remove it from sale if a full sized adult piggy can escape through the bars.

He is between seven and nine months I believe. I didn't think that the water bottle weighing down on the bar ever so slightly would create a big enough gap for piggies to put their head through yet alone squeeze their bodies through. The cage was from jollyes which I bought roughly less than one year ago when I had house rabbits which I used as a hidey house for them.
