Harry lost his wife 2 weeks ago.he has been with Poppy for ten days, both get on well.Yesterday Harry passed bright red urine. He has been to a local vet today. He is on septrin and loxicom. His weight has tumbled,he is 1220 grams,so started syringe feeding and giving extra water.I'm glad to say urine is not bright red now.started cystease at vets suggestion.Hes has been on grainfree pellets for some time now.just hope he feels better soon.Change his diet to a lower calcium diet ,filter his water.Poppy is sitting next to him in the fleece tunnel.

Poor Harry, so sorry he is poorly, you sound like you have done everything possible to avoid bladder problems, hope Harry recovers very soon x

Poor Harry, hope he is feeling better soon. Glad Poppy is able to nurse him better

Poor Harry and poor you, these piggies are such a worry. I hope it's a UTI and that the meds knock it out quickly.

Thanks everyone.Harry was neutered a year ago.he went back with his boar friend at the time,he had an awful fight, puncture wounds down to his ribs and knocked about.so he has been under the vet care in northampton since then ?stones in urethers,or kidney failure.so has been on loxicom on and off.he goes weeks without weight loss.then he looses and need to restart loxicom.this is the 1st time ive seen blood.so we will see how he goes.if he needs further care he will need to travel to vets futher afield.he is a laid back boar, usually weights 1.3kgs.bladder/kidney stones are my least favorite illness.fortunatley ive only has one other boar had stones.i hope Harry is okay.

Very sorry for poor Harry!

The loss of a companion can trigger both a UTI or sterile IC if exposure has happened and the immune system is temporarily weakened through the stress of the loss.

My Macsen (who is borderline IC; i.e. normally asymptomatic except for stress situations) promptly had a new spike after his wife Hirael died. :(

Healing vibes to Harry. He's lucky to be with you as you're taking very good care of him.

Harry has been on sulfatrim for a week.his urine is very smelly.should this be clearing up by now.think he needs to go to Northamton after ten days.I'm still feeding him lots of water, and syringe feeding.

Harry has been taking water from the water bottle for the 1st time in 8 days.he has eaten salad leaves.I'm still syringe feeding as he is not eating much hay on his own.lets hope this is a start of a slow recovery.he is on cystease two capsules aday at present.started potassium citrate at vets instructions.giving 15ml fluid challenge twice aday.so we are pulling all the stops out.wet diet may help as well.grass will be given when it starts to grow well.

I hope that he is picking up and getting past it eventually.
