I noticed the last time we went down it seems to be trendy for some to be anti English, there are a few scribbled comments like 'Locals Only' on the Kernow sign as you enter from Devon :-\ I find that a real shame, most appreciate that tourism is one of the few industries Cornwall has :-\. Last time i was down I saw a blokey that had a Tshirt that said 'Cornwall is NEXT to England - like Wales' : last time I heard Cornwall is actually IN England lol! What is it like a bit further down, have you noticed anything like that?
I think it's more like that up north actually. Personally I would support independence for Cornwall and hope that one day the Tamar breaks through and we become an island. ;D ;D ;D
LOL! I used to say that! But I've mellowed a bit more now in my advanced age, but I do get a bit annoyed with it, England bashing seems to be very fashionable. However, what I can't stand is the fact that most locals are barely above minimum wage and and forced out of the areas due to the DFL brigade buying up all the local properties, grrr makes my blood boil to see almost empty villages and the few people left struggling with the council taxes etc > We can't move back cos the of the ridiculous property prices, and it's wrong that you are allowed to buy a house just to live in it for about 6 weeks of the year!
I am desperate to move back myself, but the property is so expensive and the wages so rubbish. Same in Bath - we always say we have Somerset wages and London prices >
Still all that aside my hubbie is now an honourary (sp?) Cornishman and he would happily live down there if we could afford it! My family are mostly still there, so we get free accomodation when we return ;D
Live in Kent now, have also lived in London and Cambridge : but will be here until either:
a) we emmigrate (likely!)
b) we can afford to get back to Cornwall!
