Hand sanitizer

Hi, I have my guinea pig in my room, and I always keep the windows closed to keep in the heat. I try not to use hand sanitizer in my room because I'm afraid the smell will be harmful to him(and my rooms pretty small so there isn't much air circulating), but I forgot and just used some. Do I have to open up the windows or is it fine? How harmful is the smell? I don't want to open the windows because I just heated it up, but I will if I have to.

Hello I’d say it might be best to just open the window and the door to just refresh the room and take any smell away - as you know piggies are very sensitive to scents …..it’s easy done tho
Do you just have one guinea pig ? Any piggy does need a piggy companion

No, a hand sanitiser is not harmful; especially if you stick to unperfumed ones.

The warnings are mainly against things like perfumed air fresheners, candles and smoking in the room etc.

Alcohol evaporates very quickly; the little in the sanitizer won't do any harm. I often sanitize my hands between medicating frail piggies in order to accidentally avoid any transmission between piggies via my hands.
