Does anyone have a hamster playpen, like this http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodents/cages/pens_fencing/14543 for their piggies? Can they escape from it by jumping over the top or not?

I know people are going to tell me to just get a piggy playpen but would be helpful if I knew that most piggies wont escape because then I can use it for the hamsters too (oh, and yes, I know the hamsters will escape most likely lol). It will be used indoors and they will be supervised.

Thats what i got and while my naughty romeo trys to climb out the others dont, its great for winter time play dates with piggies!! (i sit in mine and let them run about) i got 2 and joined them together

Yup I have that one and Timmy jumps over it every time ;D
My others dont though, I guess it depends on the piggy :)

I'm getting this one for the spring time indoors (I have four pigs in a shed at the mo so don't bring them in but we have cuddles in the shed!) My boar Sunshine would try and escape from that but they will never be left alone. I think they are fab and shouldn't be a problem as long as you watch the pigs! :D

I have it and although they never tried its possible for them to escape so constant supervision is vital

Nah i dont have one.But i supose they could go into it. :) They might get out of it though.... :-\

I've got two of them, nobody's tried to escape yet but they could if they wanted to! I only use them to fence off the telly and the plugs and then they have the run of downstairs lol xx

I have one I use for the gerbils - they haven't escaped, yet!
I plan to use it for the piggies too , to partition off a space for them but I would agree, it could only be used under supervision.

Yes, I have that one for my 2 piggies! They can stretch out with their paws reaching the top but they can't climb over it - although make sure that you don't have anything near the sides that they could jump on then escape. I'm actually thinking of getting another one just so I can make their play area a little bigger. O0

We have one for our hammie, never thought to use it for the piggies. Mind you, Alfie (hamster) climbs out of his, we have to keep a really close eye on him or he's gone in two seconds flat ;D

By the way it doesnt get them much excercise if you use it as a circle-use it to section off a part of the room and they get a lot more excercise

I have it, my boy jumps over and the girls dont even try.

Its not really big enough for much exercise. Join 2 together or use it in a corner.

No, No, no, guinea pigs are native to the andes and so are naturaly good jumpers (because of the rocky terrain) although the wild and domestic piggies are totaly different the domestic ones still have all thenatural featues through instinct so if they can jump over they will, of course like said eairlier if you are constatly are wtching them thaen ok but that aint conveniant, get a large plastic box and turn it upside down (making sure there are large holes or slits in the roof of it, and puta wieght of somesort on it so they cant move itand then you hacve a perfect piggie indoor run you must be carefull when you are getting them out try luring them with food.

This works fine for me so i hope it works fine for you to hope i helped O0

Mine permanantly live in the pen in the link I posted, and have never jumpeds over. They've never even tried.

Nobody said they weren't natural jumpers. Where did you get that from? Lol!

I've got two of the hamster pens, useless for Luna my syrian as she scales it instantly! ;D

My piggies have never even bothered once to try to jump over, in fact I broke one down and it is now a cage divider to keep two of them from fighting. I think mine are too fat and lazy to try to jump over. I know other people's piggies can leap over them so they aren't suitable for every pig, but they're okay with mine. I've used it to block off hidey holes too, it's really good for that!

I also never ever leave them alone outside of the cage either, by the way. :)

but the cage in the above post is an outdoor cage,, i am looking for something suitable for indoorsthat wouls be big enough for 3 piggys (seperated) to play next to each other

I have one of these playpens. It was a waste of money, both my pigs can easily jump out, so I can't leave them in it for more than a couple of minutes, and then they have to be supervised closely. I put them in sometimes when I'm cleaning out, but I have to post a child to watch them and tell me if one escapes!

First time I used it, Jack hurdled it, ran way, and went under the sofa. It took me half an hour to get him out. Now they aren't allowed in any rooms with furniture.

My dad studied wildlife of the andes for six years so we lived there.

PS. i wasn't saying that anyone was saying they wern't natural jumpers, they just are but it all depends on the piggie

Col, I use it indoors!

What makes it ONLY suitable for outdoors?

I think its pefect and is a bargain! It wasnt reduced when I got it. :(

the original link is the pen i use for my monsters, theyve never tried to get out or jump ?

i put two of them together and it gives them plenty of room, u can buy that pen in P@H for £9.99
