OK, I have shifted over to fleece!

Whip out piggy toys and hidies from cage, brush fleece, remove fleece from cage and shake the stuffing out of it outside. Stuff fleece in to horse wash bag, bung it in washing machine and ignore it for an hour as it attempts to get clean..with non bio powder obviously.

Remove soiled incontinence pads and throw out from cage, staring in amazement at how much they are stained...but NOT saturated! Woo! Puppy pads at bottom of cage (just in case) are completely dry. Add clean incontinence pads, agonise what fleece colour to add back to cage. Settle on check fleece. Add to cage, decide against it and remove. add red fleece to cage. Swear and curse a bit.

Actually a lot.

Spend 20 mins lining up fleece snuggle pouches, tubes and cosies in a painful choice. Finally decide. Add them to cage and return rest of hidies to cage.

Cleaning time: 20 mins

Fleece choice time: 20 mins

How can I remove piggy hair from the fleece!?! It doesn't want to be removed!

Ha! You sound just like me.
I wanted to use the purple liner but the beds that match that are in the wash.
And if I use the blue one what pee pads will look best?
It's never ending!

To remove the hairs I use an old rubber curry comb. It's used on horses to remove loose hair, and whips them off the fleece pretty well too.
I imagine a rubber dog brush (which might be easier to get hold of?) would work fine too - something like a 'Zoom Groom'.

I know this is an old-ish thread but we have just switched over to fleece and all seems good except the fleece comes out of the machine still covered in hairs!

@Flamestriker is the curry comb working?

I just bought the wonder broom which is rubber and it gets dog hairs off the carpet so therefore a rubber curry comb would be grand. Like the idea of a pink one ...

OMG, I know this thread is old but @Flamestriker I totally empathise with the furniture arrangement struggles!

My most anxious moment in the week is the few minutes after cleaning out the girls as they rearrange things to their liking, and I have to look away from the distressing sight of the first hay trail across the fresh new fleece (WHY CAN'T YOU JUST SIT NICELY AND NOT TOUCH A THING?!) :yikes:

This happens here too after ive spot cleaned or cleaned their cage. Patchy will drag half a pile of hay into her hidey which is at the other end of the cage and half the time wont eat it and i have to clean it up later. Cleaning hay off fleece really sux.

Hmm, maybe there's no simple solution! Is it harmful for them if there is still a lot of hair left on fleece?

I don't know.....i was going to start a new post and ask but haven't got round to it. They seem to be clean and smell fine (thanks to the vinegar tip) but still have hairs all over them......so not sure if they are 'properly' clean or not?
