My 12 month old boy has just started getting a patch of thinning hair on his back. There is no sign of scratching or bleeding. They are kept very clean, changed twice a day (2 brothers together) and are the bestest friends. Not sure what to do. They are kept on shavings and have hay in their bed. It's just happened over the last 2 days. His brother is fine.

Hi, it could just be barbering but I would have him checked over by a vet to rule out mites or fungal. If it is mites or fungal, both your boys will need to be treated but only a vet can diagnose and prescribe the correct treatment

We cannot even guess just from your description. It is always better to have a hands-on vet examination and to treat with vet grade medication based on their diagnosis.

All the best!
