We've had our 2 girls since January and we're still working on hand taming. We can feed them and give a chin scratch at the same time, but not quite allowed to touch them anywhere else or pick them up.

They could both do with a nail trim, but Eevee is long haired and I've noticed matting, so don't want to leave it any longer.

I don't want to terrify them by picking them up to trim fur and nails, and don't want to lose all the trust I've built, but just want some advice on the best way to go because their care is obviously the most important thing.

Welcome to the forum

You can herd them into a box and then pick them up from there - the guide below explains. They are still unlikely to like it, but it is important it is done. It is also essential that they are weighed once a week so you can monitor hay intake (weight loss can often be a first sign of illness) so do ensure you start doing that if you aren’t already (weight management guide also linked in below)

Sorry, meant to add this guide also - An Illustrated Guide to Hair Cutting

I also have one long haired boy and I make sure the hair around his bottom and sides are kept short and off the ground all year. I let the top grow longer in winter because they live out in my shed, but I also cut the top short in summer to help keep him cool

Welcome to the forum 😊
My long-haired floof loved hubs best because I trimmed her fur and nails but he brought her grass and took her into the front room to watch Homes Under the Hammer. I'd have loved him best too!

Nails are next and I'm looking forward to it!
