Hi everyone.
My poor boy is struggling with gut stasis. He’s been like this for a week now. Started with refusing veggies then looking really uncomfortable and sad, not moving around much. He has through this always pooped, just very clumped together and smelly they then started to become very small, we have had 2 vet trips. Firstly a regular vet who said to provide critical care for 2 days and if no improvements return. I then travelled to an exotic vets who diagnosed gut stasis and put him on metacam and Emeprid as well as continuing the critical care. He is now pooping regular and eating hay again, still syringe fed as not eating even close to previously. Although there is improvements he still looks really uncomfortable and like he’s really struggling and very fatigued. My question really is does anybody have experience with gut stasis? is he likely to get better after seeing these small improvements and after a week of dealing with this. It is really upsetting to see him this way? Is there more I can be doing?

I am worried about an underlying issue as his digestive system seems to be working now with the critical care. He just still seems really poorly. Yes he lost weight and has managed to re gain. He is 1957g which I believe is considered overweight. Thank you for the guide. I will have a good read.

All you can do is discuss further with the vet and investigate any possible underlying issues.

It’s only overweight if his heft check determines so - weight alone is not a determining factor of health. He is certainly a big boy though!

I hope he is ok

Wow what a big boy! Poor fella, at least he has put weight back on and will eat some hay, I'm sorry I can't be any more help. I think a return to the vet could be in order.
Best of luck - I'd love to see a picture of him! ♥️

Thank you. Thankfully Odie is still eating, drinking and coming out to see us. I can tell he’s missing his brother though
I’m so sorry to hear this.
Sending you hugs
