It's absolutely horrifying :'( :'(

What's it gonna take for guns to be banned?! I know it's all surrounded in politics but I'd say people's lives are too important and too many psychos can get their hands on guns way too easy

They won't ban guns in the US, its written in their constitution that everyone has the right to take up arms to defend themselves (or something like that) and the National Rifle Assoc is very powerful...

I don't know where I stand on this - sometimes I think I'd feel safer if I had a gun in the house if I lived in a dodgy area, but mostly I think they are horrid things.

I just feel so sorry for those poor students - they had their whole lives ahead of them. What a sad waste.

It's been huge news on our tv and radio stations :'( :'(

I pm'd Kimmie to ask if she knew anybody involved, you worry about the poor parents and family of these kids :( :(

But then you could get a situation like it happened a few years back, where a five year old kid was playing games with the neighbour kid, and I think they were playing cowboy and indian or something silly, and he took the gun out of dads bedside table and played with it, accidentally shooting the other kid. He probably thought it was a toy. :(

I watched it on the 5.30 am news and just sat there stunned
an email was sent around the campus about the guy had already shot his ex and her new bf and was still on the run,not everyone has an email or the internet or checks it as soon as they get up,then again it seems the campus is huge and if it was passed from the emails around by various people, not everyone wouldve got the message :(

my best friend lives in Iowa and has kids at school and is often saying how much she worrys about it happening to her kids school so looks like an on going worry for them in the US ,
mind you I did read in sundays paper that Al Queida want to do a Beslan school and do it in England hold kids even primary age hostage and start shooting them, I remember when kids were cherished not used as pawns in a world wide game of war and terrorism, I automatically thought of the Dunblane incident I had kids of the same age and it hit me hard even doubting my own kids saftey at school, I know things are more stricter now with cctv and locked front doors etc but that wont stop a real terrorist, sick people, :'(

This is really horrible. They're estimating that between 31-33 students have died with many in critical condition. I was listening to the police chief's speech on the radio today in the car. The identified the shooter as a 23-year old Senior undergrad at Virginia Tech. I live about 2-2 1/2 hours away from the school. They're putting the flags at half-mast today in the state.

there were 3 professors among the dead too :( :'(

*sighs* sometimes this world sucks

Did you read that one of them was a war veteran who had survived the holocaust, i think he was 76, and they are hailing him a hero because he blocked the doorway to save his students. :'( That's courage and bravery for you :'(
