I have two boars who are in an indoor hutch. It's not the biggest cage in the world which means they can't get a good run around. I bought some grids from B and Q and I put them in the run most days so they can have a bit of a play.. But when they are in there they just hide. They don't come out and play at all.

When we first got them they would run around their cage a lot..chasing each other and playing. Now they just sit around looking tired.

Any suggestions on this?
Thanks

try putting food as far away from them as possible that will mean they have to at least walk to get the food. ;D ;D ;D

Give them time to get used to it they may not like it at the moment as it is new to them, after a while they should start to explore, slowly at first until they know what they are doing.

Good luck

Yeah I agree just give them time, my guineas were like that when I first got them now they will happily run around freely in my living room they love exploring :)

I let Fugly have the run of the lounge, only things to look are for are make sure they cant get at any wires and if you dont want something chewed make sure they cant get to it O0 O0

if i remove their pigloos and just have the big cardboard chubes in, they will run through them and make lots of noise! ;D
As theres nowhere for them to hide, they have no option but to move about and if you put the chubes in a long line, they love exploring to see where the long tunnel will lead! >:D

The problem I have is that I live in a small flat with only one bedroom. The guinea pig cage is currently in one corner of the lounge. It's not physically possible to get them a bigger cage until I move house (hopefully in the next 6 months). At the moment their cage isn't really big enough to run around and thats why I want them to use their run more. I can set up the grids on my kitchen tiles you see, and pack it away when I've finished.
