Hi I have 2 female guinea pigs just over a year old.one of my guinea pigs has been ill ,been to the vets and been on medication.its been 2 weeks since she was ill and for around a week she has been following around my other guinea pig everywhere.my other guinea pig doesn’t like and gets annoyed when sharing her space all the time, and with nip her a lot and then she will sqeal.this has only recently happened and they would never usually fight daily.we have tried separating them for short periods and they usually squeak for each other and cry but as soon as they get back, they carry on fighting.

Hi!

This is not fighting but normal dominance behaviour after a leadership switch in the wake of illness. When the leader is for some reason no longer able to hold their position (age or illness), the next in line will step in and take over. This can be a bit more pronounced if the new leader is not feeling all that secure in their position. The dominance phase after bonding or a change in the group/territory lasts on average 2 weeks but it should gradually settle down throughout that period. The first few days tend to be more intense.

@Piggies&buns has given you the links.
This one here deals with the dominance phase in detail: Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics

Nipping and squeaking

That is normal dominance behaviour (nipping is a carefully judged gesture of power that lets the underpiggy just feel the teeth without actually hurting them) and submission squeaking. Please take the time to read up on guinea pig social interaction.
