This might be a stupid question but Can guineapigs and rabbits share the same run? Not at the same time but separately?

Just asking as my mum has built a huge run for her rabbit & is going to have some of our baby piggies when they are big enough. She's going to get another hutch so they won't be kept with the rabbit at all.

Does it matter if a rabbit has been in the run before the piggies go in? Or is she best getting another run too?

@Wiebke stated on another thread that 'Rabbits can sometimes be carriers of bordetella and pasteurella without any symptoms, but can pass them on to guinea pigs in close proximity.

Rabbit ear mites are another thing that can be passed from rabbits to guinea pigs.'

@Wiebke would it not be advisable therefore to use the same run at different times?

I you can, have two runs, and if not, please have the guinea pigs out before you have the rabbits.
