Was slightly concerned about my guineapigs eyes because they were looking slightly red and had a greyish gunk. I tried booking an appointment at my vets but there weren’t any available all week so at night I went to a 247 emergency vet and they told me that his left eye looked relatively normal but his right eye looked corneal abrasion and gave me 1x isathal 3G to put in both his eyes and 1.000x remend corneal repair gel 3ml (10pk) for just his right eye.
I’m not trying to insult my vets expertise but last time I went to a different vet they told me my guineapig was completely fine even after hair loss and I had to keep persisting and went to a different vet for them to be diagnosed with mites so ever since I have been very wary and want to be cautious and double check that this is the correct medication and that I know of anything that I can do at home.
Is his left eye normal? They checked and said it was perfectly normal but but the white of his eyes looks grey . In the past it looked completely white

If there is an injury or infection in the eye then yes Isathal and a repair gel is absolutely the right medication

Was he given any pain medication?

Thank you for your response . He was not given any pain medication . Was I supposed to receive that medication? He doesn’t seem to be in pain because he has a big appetite and has been chutting around his cage.

Eye injuries can be painful. It’s quite common to be prescribed pain meds as well

Piggies hide their pain as they are a prey animal.
Whenever mine have had hay poke, they have never once appeared to be in pain, it’s never affected their appetite but they do still generally repair pain meds

Do you think it is crucial for me to go back to vet to ask for pain med . I feel quite worried now
