I noticed late last night my guinea pig, Tui, had diarrhea and I can't get her to the vet until tomorrow because it's labor day in the us so her vets office is closed. She's still eating and drinking and for the most part acting like herself. Is there anything I should be doing here or do I just need to wait until I can get her to the vet? She went to the vets office recently due to other pigs suddenly passing and the vet said she looked healthy but to bring her right back if she stopped eating/pooping. I'm not sure how big of a deal diarrhea in guinea pigs is. Is this so urgent that I need to go right to the vets when they open even if I don't have an appointment? (My vet will see her even if his appointments are full if it's urgent)

Is it liquid or just softer than normal? If it's liquid, e.g true diarrhea, she will neef to see a vet immediately. In either way, please take her off of fresh veg and grass for 24-48 hours after the poos return to normal only feeding hay, pellets and water. All the best

Full liquid diarrhoea is considered an emergency and needs urgent vet attention.
Soft but formed poops is less urgent and can usually be rectified by taking piggy off fresh veg, increasing hay intake. However, given the passing of your other pigs, I would err on the side of caution in this case even with soft but formed poops and would recommend you see a vet.

What you do need to step is step in with support for either scenario.
Stop giving fresh veg and grass immediately (giving her fresh veg will risk further destabilising the gut).
Switch to daily weight checks and step in with syringe feeding.

Thank you. She sends to be having some more liquid and some more formed, but I really can't get her in until tomorrow. I'll definitely do the syringe feeding if that will help while waiting to get her to the vet.

We got her to the vet today; he said it was bacterial and she was given some antibiotics to hopefully fix the problem. The poos got a lot more liquidy in the time before we got her to the vet, but hopefully these antibiotics will help.

I would suggest you give a probiotic to help settle her gut also.
I hope she is ok
