Ok so i have 2 girl guinea pigs, Amber & Trixie, and i read that when it get cold you should move them inside, so i rushed out and got an inside cage which is a good size but they argue over hiding places as there was only 1, so i put another hiding place in which didnt leave much room. They could get on top of the hiding place so it wasn't that bad. But recently Amber has been going a bit crazy and trying to run laps around the inside cage! I'm afraid she'll get hurt! :(

Its not ideal inside, and would like some help on idea to insulate the outside hutch and things i can do to keep them warm if i do put them outside! i live in london, England and its meant to be a cold cold winter!

I looked at heat pads but to be honest there really expensive! i will buy them if i have to put if there are any other ideas and things to keep them warm and comfortable that would be great! :)

I have the poppy den hutch from pets at home, and a cover that goes with it, with a flap that flaps down the front already! :D

Thanks, Catie

OH and I'm unable to put them in a shed/garage or anything. So its inside cage or outside hutch!

Bubble wrap is great for insulating the hutch under the waterproof cover. :) I know heat pads are expensive (they are cheapest online) However they are fully reuseable and you can keep them for years and years. :)

What size is the cage you have inside? Have you considered a C&C?

Bubble wrap seems like a great idea! Ill buy myself some bubble wrap! Thank you x>>x>>

The inside cage i have is 'Cavie 80 Guinea Pig Cage by Ferplast', the sizes are: L77 x W42 x H42cm, My guinea pigs are not fully grown either, & to be honest i cant afford anything bigger.

C&C isnt an option either as we have cats and no spare room for a guinea pig room unfortunately :(:(

Thats fair anough. Piggies can be an expensive buinesness. However as youve worked out a cavi 80 (despite what the pet shops say) Really isnt big enough for 2 piggies long term. However i would keep it as if one ever gets poorly you may want to bring them in out of the cold.

Theres nothing wrong with keeping piggies outside provided your willing to make the effort, (which you obviously are.) :))

If you are stuck with the outside cage, you can get silver insulation on a roll from B&Q (etc). I staple gunned this to the whole of the outside hutch excluding the bars (lol) and then added a cover. But if really cold, you can get inside runs on eBay which fold up really flat. I use mine when cleaning out, but the piggies love somewhere new to run round. Also, if you can shut cats away for a bit, piggies can have a run round an inside room, just to give them some more exercise.
