Hi 1st time posting.

I had 2 boy piggies (Marshmallow and Bounty), then unfortunately Bounty died a few weeks ago. I got him a couple of boy friends (Liquorice and Rolo) to keep him company. Bonding went very well and they were even snuggling up together to sleep.

Then Marshmallow got an eye infection so had to put drops on his eye. Liquorice kept licking the drops off Marshmallow eye. So we had to make up a new cage and put Marshmallow in separating him from the others. His cage was on top of the other piggies cage so he could still hear and smell them and see them and visa versa.

1 week later we have tried to reintroduce Marshmallow, but Liquorice is not taking to him and is being very dominant dispite being half Marshmallows size.

Any suggestions on how I can get them all to be friends again. Rolo doesn't care who he is with, he loves them both. I don't really want to get another piggie, but don't want to leave one on their own either.

Used to have 6 boys living quite happily together before.

Thank you for any advice.

This is very often the case when one has been separated for a while. Trio's very rarely work with boars. The fact you had 6 together before is just short of a miracle. I've not had a group of boars before, but from reading up on the problems others have had I think their is a very slim chance your boy will be accepted back into the group.

The only things I can suggest if you do want to try re-introducing are to clean the cage out, give them all new bedding and rearrange it, bath all 3 of the pigs and start them off in a neutral area, not in the cage. However, there is a chance all 3 of them will fall out and you'll end up with 3 single boars.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

they say 2 is company 3 is a crowd... I think its rare for more than 2 males to live happily together unfortunately, I am sure more experienced folk will come along with some good advice soon x

Shellza I gave them floor time in a neutral space and cleaned and disinfected their cage. However I didn't bath them.

Today I bathed them altogether, they enjoyed their little swim, didn't enjoy the shampooing.

I then put them into the cage Marshmallow was in on his own overnight. That was this morning. Touch wood they seem to be getting on ok. I did take out the hidiehole and gave them a towel to lie on instead of a soft toy. Fingers crossed they stay amicable.

Thank you for the replies:-)
