Hello All :)
I’m hoping someone may be able to help me a little with one of my male Guinea pigs.
I have noticed one of his eyes has become very weepy over the last week or so but seemed tocome and go with no other problems. Today however I’ve noticed that it’s become a lot worse and the discharge is brown with a really unpleasant odour.
Closer inspection it looks like he has a small scratch in his eye but I’m not 100% sure if this is the case. It also looks like it’s slightly cloudy.

His general health is fine and he’s eating and drinking as well as walking around.
My issue now is that it’s Easter weekend and not ideal timing with getting him to a vet!
Has anyone experienced this before and know what’s happening or can advise what I can do to help him at home?
Male
Just turned 3 years old
No other problems
Lives with one other kale guinea pig

thank you :)

I’m afraid you need to get him to the vet. Eyes are classed as an emergency. UK vets provide 24 hour service so if you ring your usual vet they should have details for the out-of-hours vet. Eyes are treated the same for all animals so it doesn’t matter if the vet is experienced in treating guinea pigs. Hope your boy is better soon.

Welcome to the forum
I agree with @Siikibam.
Eyes are classed as urgent and do need treatment quickly. Please do have him seen by a vet today.
I hope he is ok
