Hello, i made an account here to check on something. My baby girl ray, died a few weeks back. I loved her so much, and i was so broken to see her go. Unfortunately my other piggy yui took it really hard so i had to get a new one. Sure as heck she died too this morning, the same way. The key difference here is that ray died with a bunch of bedding in her mouth, as well as her coughing a lot beforehand. My new one died coughing up a bunch of bedding, the same way ray did. Why does this happen? Yui is so broken up about it, and I'm super confused and also pretty angry. Any ideas? Any leads or opinions on to why this happens?

I can’t answer your question but want to say how very sorry I am for your losses.
Holding you in my thoughts

I’m am so sorry for your losses, one of mine died a few days ago and it’s heartbreaking. I can’t imagine losing two.

You say ‘bedding’, what do you mean by that? What bedding are you using specifically?

I’m sorry for your losses. Unfortunately the only to get an idea of what led to their death is to have a vet do a post-mortem. They are very good at hiding their illnesses so it’s sometimes difficult to know.

Ah, the paper bedding you get at the petstore. You guys are so sweet, thank you for the love and support. ^-^ I might do that, as this is way too confusing...

Hi and welcome

I am ever so sorry for your losses.

What bedding are you using? It should normally not be eaten or get into their airways. I would strongly recommend to research bedding alternatives, like fleece bedding as an immediate measure.

Did you notice a change in behaviour, activity, appetite and weight before their death?
How long have you had your original piggies and how old were they? I assume that they are indoors piggies? Have you got a working gas alarm?
We cannot comment on without knowing more background. It is sadly not like we have a crystal ball that gives us the right answer at the snap of a finger. :(

My original piggies i had for about 3 or so years. i have a gas alarm, and i noticed ray was acting differently when she died. Less active, and this morning yui my third pig is starting to act oddly too. Slow, heavy breathing, when she breathes it makes a weird sound and she overall isnt herself. Are they getting sick or something...? This is all so upsetting....

Please have her seen asap!

It sounds like either something environmental (please double-check the battery in your gas alarm) or something infectious. Quarantine the acute piggy asap but be aware that the other may already be infected or exposed to whatever is causing the problem.

Something like this is every owner's worst nightmare. There are some nasty butgs around. They are thankfully pretty rare but when they hit, it can be devastating. :( :( :(

BIG HUGS

As i prepared to go to the vet, yui died. Three pig deaths in a month. I'm so tired of this, it has to be some sort of sickness. My piggy yui fought really hard, but she died almost instantly, she fought really hard, being a disabled pig for her entire life. She tried walking it off, but it made her stress too much. I kept trying to get her to stay still but she just went out almost instantly. I cant take this....so many of my friends dying, why.........

I'm so sorry for your losses, losing so many of your piggy companions in such a short space of time must be heartbreaking. Rest in peace ❤️🌈
