Guinea pigs ate cardboard

We put the guinea pigs in a home made play pen (with supervision) and part of it was made of cardboard. They seemed to really enjoy it but started to scratch the cardboard. We tried to stop them as we didn't want them to end up eating any of it but one of them ate about a pinkie nail size amount. Will they be ok or should we get them checked by a vet? They do seem fine and it's been about an hour.

A lot our piggies eat cardboard and paper. Mine love an empty toilet roll stuffed with hay. You don't need to worry.

While you don’t want them eating a lot, it is absolutely fine for them to nibble at it
