Graid
New Born Pup
Our 5 year old guinea pig Nimri is suffering from rather vague symptoms and yet it's clear something is wrong.
He has soft droppings, and has lost weight, and sometimes his droppings are getting left in the sac instead of taken out. He was seeming of quite normal brightness, still eating his dry food and dinner and drinking well. The vet said there was some blood and glucose in his pee, whereupon he was given antibiotics. After this, there was no more blood and glucose in his urine and his weight seemed stable, at least when his food was supplemented with a little 'Supreme Recovery' food.
The antibiotics finished on Monday and he was doing fine until today wherein the poor pig was floppy feeling and lethargic, and also shivering and complaining when taken out of the cage more than usual, as if something is paining him. Something seems definitely wrong.
The vet has given him an ultrasound which found nothing, and an x-ray that identified potential small bladder stones but the vet seen is not one particularly experienced in guinea pigs so the diagnosis is not certain- they were going to ask their colleagues about it.
He's had no signs of straining to pee, no squeaking in pain or anything of that nature.
