Hi,
I just noticed my female guinea pig, aged three years old, has some weird bumps around her genitalia. Bumps weren't there two weeks ago. I need help identifying what it is. Could it be genital warts or haemorrhoids? Her sister and mom in the same cage as her don't have these bumps.

Picture as attached

thanks for your help.

More images below. Sorry couldn't figure out how to attach them earlier. It looks like it could be cancer or vaginal polyps but I'm not really sure. I don't know if there are any treatment options available for guineapigs. :( IMG-20210406-WA0002.webpIMG-20210406-WA0001.webpIMG-20210406-WA0003.webpIMG-20210406-WA0004.webp IMG-20210406-WA0002.webp

Hello. Sorry I can’t help but I hope someone will be along soon with some advice for you.

I would get her checked out by the vet.

Please can you change your location to county/state or country. It makes it easier as sometimes info can be tailored depending where you live.

Hello and welcome
I would get her checked out at the vets, it will give you peace of mind x

Thanks for the replies and warm welcome.

My pig's still active and all for now.
I'm planning to take her to the vet tomorrow after work. If it is indeed cancer, they probably won't be able to do anything. 😔

It doesn’t look typical of a cancer but I’ve never come across it before in piggies so can’t say. We get something similar with the horses that is non-cancerous.
Hope all goes well at the vets. Stay positive and keep us posted

Hi and welcome!

This looks very unusual. we've never seen something like this with literally thousands of piggies passing through this forum in our existence. The closest I can come to is a small growth on one of my piggies' nose. Please have it vet checked.

What's the condition called for horses? It looks comparable to a sessile polyp in humans or even adenocarcinoma. There's not much literature or pictures of it for guineapigs. https://www.vetline.de/genital-trac...ice-of-female-pet-guinea-pigs-cavia-porcellus

It’s best not to speculate and just wait and see. Have you booked the appointment? Let us know how you get on. I’ve got everything 🤞🏾 that it’s nothing major 🙂

Went to the vet today. He said it's probably viral warts. Unlikely malignancy. Common in guinea pigs. He gave me some antifungal/viral/antibiotic cream to put on it for a week. Huge relief. :D

Let’s hope that things return to normal quickly for you and for her.

All the best!

The problem is not common in the UK where our forum is based.
