Hello everyone,
Yesterday I noticed that one of my girls had a bit of white nasal discharge, I wiped it away to see if it would come back, which it hasn't. However, today I have noticed that she seems to be wheezing a bit. Aside from this she is eating and drinking normally. Should I be worried?

I'm thinking I will see how she is tomorrow and if she's still wheezing I will make a vets appointment, but for now if anyone has any idea what this could be or any advice as to what I should do about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a sensitivity to pollen or dust, or a bit of grass/hay seed stuck in the nose.

See whether a bowl of hot water next to the cage will help ease symptoms.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try that.

I tried the bowl of water and I think it might have helped a little bit but she's still wheezing. Should I see the vet?

I think continued wheezing warrants a vet visit. Piggies can get respiratory illness that can worsen in a hurry, it's better to get her seen now when it's mild just in case!

We took her to the vet today and it turns out both of the girls have chest infections. We were given antibiotics and the vet told us to break a little piece off of a rubex vitamin c tablet, mix it with a tiny bit of water and syringe feed it to them. Both of them are still eating and drinking normally so hopefully they will be ok.

Thank you for the advice and I will keep you updated.

We had a follow up appointment with the vet a few days ago. She said to finish the 10 days of antibiotics with Lou and go on to 14 days with Chomper. Today is Chomper's second last day of antibiotics and Lou is done so hopefully she's all clear and hopefully Chomper is on the mend.

Aw poor girls, I hope they feel a lot better after finishing their antibiotics ❤️ And good on you for noticing and getting them checked so quickly!

All the best for your girls. I hope that they are both better soon!
