Guinea pig wheezing?

I have noticed my 4 year old boar Jamie wheezing? I'm not sure if it is wheezing but it sounds as though it would be. He also seemed to be breathing a little abnormally like 1 breath, a pause, then 2 quick little breaths unless this is normal. He has no other signs if being unwell, no discharge, no weight loss eating and drinking fine. I'm freaking out a bit as I couldnt bear the though of losing him. I will probably book a vet appointment. Is a vet needed or am I just overthrowing this. Does anybody know what this could be or if I am just over reacting. Thank you for any help.
 
It’s best to always see a vet if you have any concerns particularly breathing concerns.

I had to take my piggy to the vets two weeks ago because I could see and hear changes to his breathing. He had a URI (upper respiratory infection). He was eating and drinking fine then too. Good luck at the vets.

I have one who is making a noise with her breathing. We've been to the vet several times and tried quite a few things. There was nebulising for 4 weeks with F10, but that made no difference. So we were there again last week and the vet had a good look & listen. It's not in her lungs, it's in her nose. She said there is a chance that it may be the result of inflammation which has then caused an ongoing inflammation problem so we've just finished a week of Metacam to see if that would help. I think it has, a bit, in that the noise is quieter.
I'm afraid the other options of 'what it could be' were not good ones. It may be that she has a growth up her nose. So I'm hoping it's not that, obviously! Someone else has suggested it could be heart issues. I hope your piggy has a straightforward diagnosis and that you can get him on the mend very soon x
 
Thank you. I hope that your piggie gets better! Jamie has just finished at the vets and it was a respitory infection which means he is on antibiotics for a week so hopefully those will help him :)

Was he given pain killers too?
