How long have you had him for? Guinea pigs are prey animals, so building up trust is not a quick thing, especially if he is from a shop where he has virtually not had any human contact before.

Here is a collection of tips. It is well worth being patient and persistent because there will be that magic moment at some point when you know that your piggy is happy with you!

PS: Piggies are group animals and not wired to be on their own. Especially lonely youngsters will feel very vulnerable. If you can find a friend that your little boy can choose himself, that would be great in the long term.

Thank you! We just got him, and we're in the quarantining stage at the moment. My other piggie and him will get introduced to each other in another week or so.:)

Ive had my boys for 9 months now, and although they are a lot less nervous then whey I first got them....they still run and hide when I walk into their room.

Once they know its me, they will stick their heads out to see what treats I have for them rolleyes

Jamie is still a nervous little soul, I think he will always be that way.

Be patient, trust will come in time.
