Hi, I'm hoping to get an experienced vet's view on this. My guinea pig recently started losing weight and confirmed by my vet that her teeth was misaligned. The vet then proceeded to trim down her front teeth only as her cheek teeth seemed fine. Her weight was increasing and started dropping again after a few days. The vet suspected there's an infection in her ears due to head tilting when eating pellets and put my guinea pig on baytril and mild anti inflammatory medication. Saw some improvement when she was on the anti inflammatory but once stopped, her head tilting was back. Today I brought her in for an x-ray to get a clearer picture on what's going on. The vet said that the x-ray indicated some issues with her first front cheek tooth (top) and second tooth (bottom). The vet put my guinea pig on anaesthesia to check in depth and said that none of the tooth was loose or seemed problematic and said maybe the issue is in the skull. I would like to know what you'll think about it. Attaching the x-ray view here.

Welcome to the forum!
I do not believe there are many, if any, vets on this forum currently, but we do have someone who works very close with dental piggies and a very well respected GP dental veterinary clinic. I will tag them for you, hopefully they will be able to give you some more insight - @furryfriends (TEAS)
Please keep in mind that no one on the forum is legally able to give any medical advice without a hand on assessment, the majority of members are just dedicated owners, many for decades.

I hope you can get some answers soon x

I'm sorry to hear your piggy is having issues. We are just owners.
However it is very important to point out that the forum is bound by UK law and that only a qualified vet having a hands on check can make a diagnosis. If a member on the forum did happen to be a vet I’m afraid they would still not be able to help with medical advice given they cannot have physical access to your piggy.

I hope you can get some answers from your own vet.

I’m sorry your piggy is unwell. I hope your vet can get to the bottom of the problem. Good luck.

Thank you. I just want to get a second opinion. My baby piggy is on small dose of tramadol (0.03cc) for the next one month to help her chew on both sides of her mouth. She is still eating and drinking normally, will be adding some critical care as well to help her out on some weight. She is extremely tiny now (500g) for a 2.5yr old piggy. Hoping for the best 🤞
