Hi, I'm taking my neutered boar piggie speed dating to find him a friend, what are the chances of him getiing on with any other piggies as hes been on his own since I rescued him?

From experience it's easier if he's going to find a girl friend than a male companion. It all depends on how they get on together so it's best done at a rescue than taking a piggy home & attempting it yourself. x

I would also advise finding a rescue centre to help with a new bonding. Piggies can be very choosy and it may take a few introductions before he finds "the one". Even the most laid back piggy can turn all Jeckell and Hyde if confronted with someone they don't like! Good luck and hope it all works out just fine.

Best of luck! The average is about 2-3 boars, which means that you can be lucky with #1 and go through as many as 6 boars in vain, depending on your boy's personality and age. Boars are most difficult to bond during the subadult teenage months; after that they start to settle down and mellow with age. With some notable exceptions, of course!

I'm hoping to find him a female to bond with, I've read that's easier than 2 board, he's the most laid no piggie ever but I'm hoping he actually likes a girl piggie he meets

Cross gender bonds are much more likely to work out. You will also usually know between 15-30 minutes of first interaction whether it's going to work out.

That's good coz he's got 5 girls to pick from lucky pig lol

Well, he is bound to come back home with a wife with a choice like that! She may not be your first choice, though.

I know I've spotted one I really like but as long as freddies happy

You will love any piggy that is making Freddie happy... and later just for herself! ;)

:))Awww I'm really excited bout it! Bring on Sunday! I've got next day off just in case to watch them

They will still have to work through the dominance bit, so it is good that you are taking time off. Make sure that there are no hideys with just one exit until the dust and the chases have settled down. Just a carboard box with two sides cut off or a towel or big hankie pegged to the bars will do as temporary fillers.

We have adopted Winter a female piggy yesterday, the rescue didn't know much about her but she has been on her own as has my original piggie Freddie, they're showing signs dominance displays but Freddie territorial of his part of the cage so far even after I've cleaned and rearranged it. They are pretty much ignoring each other but are showing the normal dominance after Winter gave Freddie a nip yesterday. They're tolerating each other andwill eat next to each other, also so prob when they had a bath together last night is this good so far ans will they eventually snuggle up with each other because they did before they were in cage, I should also say they were introduced on neutral ground ans were fine.

Give them time to settle down together. Sows that are not near their season are often not interested in having a boar close to them at first. The first season will be a bonding experience even though it is likely to be quite dramatic.

Right ok, so I dont need to worry abo whatds going on with them because they both seem settled and havent been with another pig so its prob a shock for them, should I get them a separate pig igloo each as well?

Yes, please, have everything in twos - hideys, food bowls etc.
