Hi,
I bought a guinea pig from a breeder when she was 4 months old. She was quite skinny, but I thought this was because she was outside with lots of other guinea pigs.
But I've had her about 6 months now and she's just not putting on any weight, even though she's inside and just sharing with one other piggie.
She's not 'sick'. Healthy coat, bright eyes, bright disposition. The other piggie has the right weight, even though I feed them almost double portions of pellets and fresh veg. Hay and water are constantly available.
But she stays skin and bones, literally.
I've not taken her to the vet because she's seems healthy enough. She's also not 'lost' weight. She's stayed the same fluctuating between 430 and 480g. Which for an adult piggy is way too low. Especially since her parents weren't that skinny.
Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking worms, but the poo seems normal. I'm not worried about her popping her clogs, but it would be nice to see her fill out. Or are there any diseases I should be thinking of that can keep her skinny.
Thank you
Sarah
