Guinea pig sneezing like crazy

Hello! So my little Truffle is continuously sneezing... then it stops... then its continuous again. I thought he was allergic to this new hay I got that another hay mixed in so I cleaned it all out and cleaned cage. I m jow using Oxbox hay which is clean but now he just had a sneezing fit... he seems otherwise really healthy... energy etc. So I dont know what to do? Suggestions? I just emailed the vet but its Saturday. Just feeding him some carrot to intercept sneezing vit and its stopped. Is it dangerous to leave this?

Oh man Idk why pets get sick towards the end of the week or at night 😭 is there any emergency vet that can see guineapig around you? I think the faster you give med it gets better really quick

Is he sick? He doesn't look sick at all that's why I'm confused and also not educated enough. I'm watching him like a hawk

Oh wow! Just read! He doesn't have any of those symptoms... just sneezing... and I keep my place free of any sort of chemical or perfume etc. Everything is fragrance free. I'm waiting to hear back from the Vet.
 
Did u get close and hear your piggy breathing? How was it? Is there any nasal discharge?

No no nasal discharge and hes breathing is normal except when I picked him up while he was sneezing. I feel like it's an allergy because it happens continuously in fits and then it stops. Do Guinea Pigs get allergies? Usually he"ll cough if he is reactive to say fleece that needs changing... so I flip and keep fleece clean for him. Otherwise looks and acts really healthy. I just went and cleaned with water all dust from back of cage wall and water heater etc. So everything is clean and I'm airing out the apartment all doors and windows open.
 
I would advise seeing a vet as it is better to get the sneezing checked then not. It might just be the simple fact that he has had some dust from the hay go up his nose which he is trying to clear with the sneezing. However as shown above, sneezing can also be a symptom of illness. Remember, guinea pigs are very good at hiding symptoms until they become too bad to treat.
 
Please have your piggy checked by a vet. Yes, piggies can have problems with certain types of bedding or hay but you must always check for a URI first.

Hi thank you.... probably got some dust up his nose from this new hat I got from a Rabbit Rescue. It had another hay mixed in and he literally started sneezing after I got it. I'm booking him in this week
 
Hello... just heard from Vet he has an allergy! Probably to that new hat, but also I've been feeding him a lot of Fennel lately because they love it... could he have an allergy to it? So I'll take it out of his diet. Getting all new fleece today and going to clean everything really good without chemicals of course! I'm glad he's ok, but mama had major anxiety today😐😂
 
And today Truffle is having a huge hormonal surge and won't leave Buttercup alone. Ots been going on for 4 hours! I just tried to calm him down in my lap. He's 4 years old I thought hormones are supposed only last til 2? At least he's healthy and full of energy
