I'm not sure if its all over country but in essex its pouring with rain, anyway made the mad dash outside this morning to feed my boys. And both boys were sitting in the rain :/ there hutch is a chicken coop so it has a sheltered bed bit a ramp then a covered bit of run and an uncovered bit. (Its pretty large) Anyway my garden is all slabs I don't have any grass so it gets wet in the uncovered bit. I put there food and salad in the bed bit and shimmied them both upstairs. 15mins later neville is back down stairs just sitting quite happily in the rain. Should I leave him be or block it off so he doesn't keep getting wet. I've currently dried them both off and put them back upstairs. .
Many thanks x

I'm not sure what I would do in this situation. Is there anyway you can cover the uncovered bit say with a tarpaulin so that they are not getting rained on? I would be a bit worried though if the ground is wet they may get a chill.
Would there be anyway you could block the uncovered bit off so they could still go out but only in the sheltered bit?

I agree with Klee about may be trying to shelter the area.

My only concern with tarpaulin is if you you go out and the sun comes out. Tarpaulin can make the area very hot.

I'm lucky as my pigs run for cover from the rain. They were once in their run and it started to rain. They all went wild shouting at me to rescue them!

I would actually be inclined to bring them indoors in the dry, we are supposed to get bad thunder and i would be worried about the lightening and thunder scaring them.

on this subject my poor piggies are in hutches in a sheltered area that are freshly felted and I'm ringing up the OH at work sounding like an idiot asking him to go fit the tarp over the hutches if it rains like mad .... they're used to me at work now thankfully!

There's no way I can bring them indoors I dont have anything to put them in and I my dogs would 100% kill them. I've put an old board over the uncovered bit. Ive given them a cardboard box stuffed full.of hay in there bed bit to hide in if they want to.
He is now sitting under the covered bit anyway. Typical really I cover up the uncovered bit and he goes under the covered bit. My other boy norman is quite happy just poking his head out of the bed bit to see what all the fuss is about .
