Hello fellow piggie lovers,
I have recently rescued some piggies, they are in okay health and was in a hutch 🥺 but got severe matted fur and hardly any teeth, I'm taking them to a vet Wednesday (earliest they could) but in the meantime how can i un matt their fur without causing them too much stress
 
Well done for taking them in.

I would not attempt it yourself if it is very bad. It would be best to have a vet nurse do it.

Make sure to weigh them so you get a baseline and that enables you to monitor their hay intake.
 
Well done for rescuing them. I agree let a vet nurse clip their fur if it’s really matted.
 
They are both female, they dont even have names as of yet and were never given names, they lived in bad conditions, but i already have 2 females who i had already before so i mught try and bond all 4 females and make a herd lol
 
Aww so pleased they have ended up with you. I am sure the long haired lady will feel better after a vet nurse trim. You can then trim bum fur after that to keep it short.
 
I am no good with names, but they are both sooooo stunning :drool:

They didn't have names?!? Poor girlies! Do you have any idea how old they are?

I think the grey one looks like a Della.

The tricolour with the white nose stripe looks like a Briar.
 
I dont know unfortunately, i got a phone call about them by my mother in law, and as i had the space i knew i couldn't leave them, but was just dumped in a hutch outside no human contact bad teeth
 
Lilo and stitch was from a breeder 🥺 she had no use for mumma no more, but are mother and daughter, i have two males gizzy and shadow, gizzy was from the breeder too and shadow was dumped at pet at home, all my piggies are from bad situations 🥺 no i wont breed my piggies i dont agree with it when i can rescue them 🥰

Once the vet nurse has sorted out the fur it will be much easier for you to maintain.
I highly recommend the hair cutting guide.
My long haired piggy Priscilla was very happy at the improvement in her fur cut after @Betsy wrote the guide.

Your girls are beautiful.
 
Glad you have them now and can give them a wonderful life.

Ive only ever owned short hair piggies but the matts look awful the size is the palm of my hand I'm so annoyed someone can let a piggie get this way, it was the we bought um for kids excuse, the grey one is worse then the gingers
 
What do u guys think of the names
Ginger = sansa
Grey = arya
If u know where its from ud understand lol

Wow what beautiful ladies! I hope you get their problems sorted and they can get on with living the happy life they deserve with you 🙂
 
UPDATE: so the ladies dont stop popcorning, with a little bit of dominance behaviour but that is normal, ive also found one of the other females sitting next to their cage suggling to the bars, just gave them more hay and they just run around like crazy 🤪 the picture is from their old home 🏡 and now in their new home, the upgrade is crazy for them
