Guinea pig random bald and red spot

Hi everyone,

Noticed a bald and red spot on my guinea pig. Located near the back legs towards the top of the butt area. Included pictures for reference.

He doesn't seem to like it when I feel the spot. He also seems to lick the fur around that area more often.

Everything else seems normal, no weight loss, eats and drinks normally, enjoy snacks.

The guinea pig is about 1 years old.

What a pretty piggy!

Please do have him seen by a vet. There can be many reasons for this kind of thing and we can’t guess which one it may be, but the fact he keeps licking at it suggests he is uncomfortable.

Ouch. Yes that does look sore. Good luck at the vets. Hopefully it’s something easily resolved.

Hi and welcome

Please have him vet checked. It could be ringworm (there seems to be pink rings around the edge of the hair loss area?) or mange mites. We cannot tell without a hands-on examination. These issues require different treatment.
