Hey, guys!

I'm dealing with a 2y/o bloated male guinea pig at the moment. He's eating some hay in his cage along with some water every now and then but doesn't seem to be pooping in his cage too much. He made about 10 poops in 1.5 hours. My vet gave me some pain meds and had me get simethicone and it seems to be working great for him so far. I've been giving him CC and I'd like to know if it's normal for him to poop as I'm feeding it to him? He won't poop much in his cage but as I'm feeding him he'll poop like crazy. He made like 20 poops in one sitting.

My concern with him right now is that he's pooping out multiple poops together. Sometimes it's one, other times it's two, or three at once, side by side. They are nice big poops, round on one end and barely tapered off on the other. I also get a whiff of them sometimes as I'm feeding him and it does smell like poop, but I've never noticed a poop smell before. It might be because I never have to smell their poops. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hi

Piggies can make lots of poops in one go and then have phases where they are not pooping as much; it reflects their food intake and digestive process. The poos themselves look healthy and nicely fat.

If you are worried, please make sure that you weigh your boy once weekly on the kitchen scales as part of your life-long health monitoring together with a body once-over. As long as you boy is not showing any discomfort when pooping and is not losing any weight, I would not worry.
