Hi everyone! I got my pregnant girl just 3 weeks ago (she was already pregnant when she was at the shelter). These few days however, for some reasons, her poo smell very very bad but the consistency is not bad. The poo is also black in color, and her cage mates poo smells too but not as bad. Do you have any suggestion on what to do or do I need to visit the vet again
🙁

Hi and welcome

If the problem persists, please see your vet in case they have one of the nastier gut bugs (seeing their background. The link below contains some information on the more common culprits.
Guinea Lynx :: Diarrhea

However, have you recently made any changes to what you feed? If yes, please be aware that you need to do this slowly to allow the gut microbiome time to adapt and to scale up the specialist digestive bacteria over the course of a few days. A pregnant sow is generally more vulnerable, especially in the later stages since her immune system and her body are working extra time right at their limit.
Take your girls off any fresh food for a day to two until the poos normalise in order to allow the microbiome to settle down and then reintroduce only very slowly, starting with a little parsley and then adding one more fresh foodstuff with every passing meal; initially just a little of the latest new food. Stop as soon as the problem reappears. It could be that your girls are quite simply not used to what you are feeding them if they come from a malnutrional background and struggle.

Switch from the usual weighing once weekly to weighing daily on your normal kitchen scales first thing in the morning in order to monitor the daily hay intake, which you cannot control by eye even though it makes over three quarters of what a piggy eats in a day. Supplement with not veg based feed if there is a weight loss.
Keep in mind that the poo output is always running a day behind events but it can tell you a bit more what could be going on; the scales give you instant feedback about the actual food intake (the daily weight swing of about 30g is lowest in the mornings) and whether you need to step in with support feeding.
