My guinea pig who is 4y old and a girl has been poorly in the past with bleeding and pain when pooing / peeing 1 year ago. She’s now a lot better and barely moans. (At one point she’d moan several times a day.) She doesn’t moan barely anymore maybe once or twice a day. But I just noticed she has two new bald patches on both sides. Should I be worried? It’s new I believe so can’t be linked to previous illness which was a year ago. Will it be a vitamin c deficiency when I googled it online? Or is it getting older age? Any ideas? Thanks for reading .

Has she seen a vet? It would be worth getting her checked out for possible ovarian cysts, with the patches being on her flank like that.

I’m sorry your girl has been poorly.

I’ve never had sows but I believe that hair thinning on the sides could be due to ovarian cysts. I’d definitely get her checked over at the vets. Good luck.

Thanks so could be ovarian cysts possibly? How would they treat this with medication?

I’ve never had sows so can’t advise sorry. I know people on here sometimes have to get their piggies spayed to remove the cysts. But I think there may be injections to help with them too. You will need a vet to decide on the correct treatment. I think there are two types of cysts. Hormonal is one type but I can’t remember the other type sorry. Good luck at the vets. They will be able to help you and your piggy.
