Recently, both my Guinea pigs have been sneezing quite often maybe once every 30 mins to an hour, and even more when they're popcorning or excited.

Both of my Guinea pigs are separated right now, i haven't heard them cough, only these like air exhales out of nose (I presume is a sneeze) sometimes they'll groom themselves right after the sneeze, sometimes they don't. I haven't been able to spot nasal discharge or watery eyes only maybe ever so slight transparent watery shimmer under their eyelid.

They're eating fine, running around and popcorning fine. I have changed their hay today even though I've used it almost for ever and never had problems with it, it's highly dust free and I've barely ever been able to see any dust. I also use a fleece lined bedding.

Their weight hasn't gone down either and I've been weighing them daily. I hope this isn't something I have to take them to the vet for, it would make it the third visit in the past 30 days (had to visit previously because of dominance issues and fighting - reason their separated) and I simply don't have the time or money to bring them back again.

Can anyone help?

Also an addition that now in Spain the weather has changed very quickly and lots of people have gotten colds because of the change of season, not sure if this changes anything but just incase

It could just be because the old hay that you used to your had a lot of dust in that you could not see but make sure you keep an eye of them if in a couple of day there still sneezing a lot take them to vet for a check up as it could be side of a respiratory infection

Hi!

Please put your piggies back together. It is much more stressful and therefore immune system lowering for them to be separated; a separation should be avoided as much as possible because it can lead to a fall-out and is in most cases not needed. If it was an infection, the companion would already have been exposed it anyway.

Have you started heating? Dry air can cause problems as can dust blown up by radiators. Try a bowl of steaming water next to the cage and see whether that is helping. if yes, consider humidifying the air in the room throughout the winter months. You are much more likely dealing with an irritant than an infection.
Irritants to Avoid Around Guinea Pigs

Transmission risk of viruses between rodents and humans is very low. A human cold is viral while a respiratory infection in guinea pigs is bacterial. This also means that symptoms differ.

I’m aware your piggies have had a full on fight, so please don’t put them back together given their bond has been broken

I haven't started heating because it simply isnt cold yet really indoors, and the room they're in is always quite warm thanks to it being facing the sun through the window (sun doesn't shine directly on the piggies or their cage)
