My guinea pig's name is Remi and he is about 2 months old, I bought him from a guinea pig breeder 2 weeks ago, yesterday around 4pm we noticed that he couldnt walk anymore, he is off balance and laying half on his back, my sister did drop him once but that was more than one week ago and he was fine and walking and jumping even yesterday morning until the evening, he does eat and drink but we need to hand feed him since he cant move, we did take him to the wet but they Just said that hes of balance and that somthing is wrong with his head, they gave him some painkillers and something for his pressure but that's all they Said that they Will need to put him down this tuesday if he still wont be ok today is sunday... What could be wrong? Can it maybe be an ear infection? Could a guinea pig wheelchair help him walk? Is it a disease? Please respond as soon as possible!

I’m sorry to hear this.
I'm afraid we can’t know what the problem is. Only a vet carrying out proper checks can make a diagnosis.

Ear infections tend to present with tilting their head, pawing at their ear, reluctance to eat independently due to pain etc.

Were any X-rays or anything done to check for internal injuries? Did you tell the vet he had been dropped?
Being dropped/falls in such a young piggy could have caused something to go wrong inside which may not have come immediately to light - although if it was over a week ago, you would expect to see something before now. How far did he fall?

I'm afraid piggies cannot use wheelchairs. Even if it was possible, It would be hugely expensive, stressful for the piggy and would prevent them from reaching round to clean themselves, eat their poops etc.

I'd try a different vet to be honest. Tell them he was dropped so they can get a good idea of what may be wrong. I personally wouldn't be putting him down until a vet has pinpointed the issue as it may be one that can be resolved. Of course if he is suffering it's another matter.
Make sure to change his bedding where he is lying to keep him dry and check for urine scald.
Best of luck, I hope he recovers soon, he's still only a baby! 😢
