Hello we are off to the Vet in an hour but wanted to ask if any of you have had issues with medication? I gave sweet Comet half a usual dose of morphine for painful GI STASIS…. .5 mil and he’s been drowsy since! I gave it yesterday at 6pm! He was good then he stopped eating completely as he’s been having GI STASIS ON AND OFF FOR weeks and I always catch it in time with syringe feeding and lots of extra water. I thought the morphine would help with pain as metacam ran out. He is now pooping but he is very lethargic and bloated. Literally yesterday at 1 pm he was perfectly healthy!

I’m concerned it’s the bumorohine . We are off to the vet praying he is ok! He is 1 years old ❤️

I hope he is ok

Stasis itself is not painful but instead the cause of the stasis is. It’s the cause that you need to look into and treat.

He has had buprenorphine before then? You say you’ve given him half a dose?

Do hope Comet is ok after seeing the vet and that the cause of the stasis has been identified. If you mean buprenorphine, Bert was prescribed this whilst receiving treatment for a difficult to locate abscess in his boy bits. He was very subdued for several days.

I hope he gets better soon ❤️

Hi yes he got all his medications he is eating hay on my lap now. So what happened is the oxbow cookies triggered the stasis… too much sugar! We do cookies and Cuddles every night and I usually give more than I should… so I feel horrible about this! So no more cookies! Otherwise Vet said he is really healthy. He reacted quite badly to the bupenmorphine so only metacam now! So I wish I knew better! Those cookies aren’t good for their tummy
