Hi! My 5.5 year old boy, Snickers, stopped eating hay a couple of weeks ago. I started immediately on the critical care and took him to an awesome vet who examined his teeth and did an X-ray. She didn't notice anything obviously wrong. He was bloated at the time (from not eating enough. I think he's better now tho), she noticed arthritis and his heart was a bit bloated(?) too. A few times he's grunted in pain so I gave him metacam. After a few weeks of cc, veggies and pellets, his mood has improved! I don't know what is going Especially this morning he seemed like his old self! He also needs his vitamin c treat a little softened before eating. I wonder if it is a tooth issue that the vet missed?

I have no advice just wanted to say that he is a very handsome boy ❤️

Aw thank u! Actually just after I posted this, I started putting thick pieces of grass in his mouth and after a lot of patience, he started eating small bites and then he ate about six pieces of two foot grass! I think I just need to be patient! He started squeaking again too. I really thought it was his time but maybe not! Love my Snickers doodles ❤️🤞

Are you weighing him daily each morning son you can monitor that he is getting enough critical care and eating enough hay for himself? This is essential and the weight checks are the only way to know a piggy is getting enough.

Is he still on painkillers? He may need long term pain meds if he has arthritis. Being in pain can stop them from wanting to eat.

Have the issues with his heart been investigated any further?
